Enrollment Fair at CMS
Cassville Middle School (CMS) will host an enrollment fair on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. in the middle school gymnasium for the 2016-2017 school year.
Students and parents are encouraged to attend the fair and learn about the exploratory and non-core classes that will be offered to CMS students next year.
“This is a great opportunity for parents and students to hear directly from the elective content area teachers about their programs, about potential careers and post-HS training,” said Mr. Jimmie Barton, CMS Principal. “It is also a great opportunity to learn about how exciting and rewarding participation in the various associated clubs and organizations can be.”
After opening remarks from Mr. Barton, parents and students will have the opportunity to visit with instructors about program requirements and class options for next year. Before leaving the fair, students and parents will complete a priority rating card for their elective courses.
“We will make every effort to ensure students are enrolled in their first or second elective choice,” stated Mr. Barton, “but we cannot make any guarantees. Priority for scheduling will be given to those students that attend the fair.”
Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to complete the ranking card.
Elective classes for the 2016-2017 school year include: agriculture education (seventh and eighth grade students), art, band and jazz band, business, computers, android programming, Future Business Leaders of America (seventh and eighth grade students), choir, Family and Consumer Science (FACS), industrial technology, wood tech, robotics, and design models (seventh and eighth grade students) walking, physical education and advanced physical education (seventh and eighth grade students).
All sixth grade students will enroll in one semester of physical education, health and computer literacy. They will complete a ranking form for choir, band, FACS, art, and study skills.
