2019 Homecoming Parade information
The 2019 Cassville Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 27th is being hosted by Cassville High School Student Council. The theme is “There’s no place like homecoming” (Wizard of Oz). Please review the information below carefully.
Route
We will have two school buses transporting student participants down to the Family Life Center. All floats will meet in the Family Life Center parking lot where we will begin lining up. Line up will be on 6th Street beginning at the Chamber of Commerce. Floats will turn left onto Main St. and travel down to the school campus, turn right onto 14th St (Kit Kat Drive). Travel down in front of Eunice Thomas Elementary. Turn left at the field house onto the paved bus lane to the High School. The parade will end at the high school.
Timing
High School students participating in the parade will be dismissed at the end of 5th hour 12:53. All groups and floats involved will travel to the line up point at the Family Life Center. Parade start time is 1:30. Parade will end at the High School approximately 2:30.
Floats
All floats must be driven by a certified faculty member with a Permission to Transport Students Form on file with their building principal. All students who are participating in the parade must have a Permission to Treat form on file in the office. If they are riding in a float, student must have a Permission Slip as well.
It is your responsibility as coach/sponsor to make sure you have the proper paperwork turned in to the office and permission slips for all of your students. You will keep these.
Viewing
The public- business, community and parents are invited and welcome to view the parade on Main Street between 6th and 14th Street. The parade route from 14th Street on to the High School campus will be reserved for Cassville R-IV staff and students only. Building level Principals will discuss where the best place for their students will be on the route and communicate specific line up information to their building teachers closer to the parade date.
Safety
We are working in collaboration with the Cassville Police Department to ensure the safety of our students who are participating in and viewing the parade. Please note the parade route from 14th Street to the High School will not be open to the general public. General public will need to make arrangements to view the parade between 6th and 14th Street. The parade timing in the afternoon will cause traffic slowdowns and alternate routes for travelers who traditionally take Main Street from 1:00 until about 2:30.
Inclement Weather
In the event that we have less than ideal weather conditions (rain, thunderstorms, snow) the parade will be canceled. If the parade is canceled, we will revert back to what we typically do during the school day for Homecoming. If the parade is canceled, we will have a 1:30 walk through of the candidates in the halls of the other buildings and a 2:45 assembly at the high school gymnasium. Parents and public would be welcome to attend the assembly at the high school.
