Cassville High School Students Attend Missouri Career & Technical Education Legislative Day in Jefferson City
Recently seven Cassville High School students joined many other students from around the state to gather at the State Capitol to advocate for Career and Technical Education and Career and Technical Student Organizations. Representing Cassville High School at this event were: Eli Herrin and Jaycie Ertel representing Business Education and FBLA; Landry Mills and Lyndee Mitchell representing Agriculture Education and FFA; and Emilee Mann, Josie Guevara and Zac Acheson representing Family and Consumer Sciences Education and FCCLA. Students were accompanied by Mrs. Samantha Cosper, FCCLA Advisor and John Littlefield, FFA Advisor.
Students began their day in the House Chambers with a briefing by Representative Karla Eslinger. Representative Eslinger prepped the students for the day ahead and presented the Governor’s proclamation declaring February as CTE month. After that students attended scheduled meetings with Representative Scott Cupps, Senator David Sater, and State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick. These meetings allowed students to share their personal experiences and to express why they feel Career and Technical Education is important and vital to the public education experience. Each of the legislatures we met sat down with students to listen to their concerns and took additional time from their schedule to show students around and to explain what they do in their role as an elected official.
