Students at Cassville Middle School (CMS) spent the last school day of 2016 raising funds that were donated to students in Chattanooga, Tennessee at Woodmore Elementary School.
Chattanooga suffered a tremendous loss when a school bus traveling from Woodmore Elementary school flipped and collided into a tree. The accident resulted in five fatalities, dozens of injuries and many devastated families.
CMS math students in Mrs. Tanya Ketchum's class were saddened to hear this news and wanted to help! The students worked together and came up with a plan to host a volleyball shoot-out and basketball skills competition.
On the last day of school before Christmas break, Mrs. Ketchum's students invited the CMS student body, faculty and staff to participate in the volleyball and basketball competitions. Donations were accepted at the door and together CMS was able to collect $500 that will be donated to Woodmore Elementary.
