CMS & CHS Results from Industrial Arts State Competition
After qualifying at the regional competition, Cassville Middle School (CMS) students Lorelei VanDerhoef and Miller Reid competed in the Industrial Arts State Competition the week of May 10 in Lake of the Ozarks. VanDerhoef used scrap hickory wood to create a three-tiered wooden stand. She placed second in the Woodworking Desktop Division. Reid constructed a wooden baseball bat and placed first in the Wood-Turning Division.
Cassville High School (CHS) had two students compete in the state competition as well.
Hunter repurposed wood that was once used as bleachers in the middle school gym to build a bench and won first place in the Tech Exploration division. Hunter is giving the bench to the high school office for future students to use. He also had two other projects that qualified for state. Dunker won first place in the Open Division with his bicycle that he built out of Maple wood.
