Wheeler Hired as Next Wildcat Elementary Assistant Principal
Caleb Wheeler has always called Southwest Missouri home, but next year, he will be joining the leadership team at Cassville R-IV as the new Assistant Elementary Principal.
During the February Board of Education meeting, the Cassville R-IV Board hired Mr. Wheeler to serve as the Assistant Principal at Eunice Thomas Elementary and Cassville Intermediate beginning July 1 of this year.
Wheeler will split his time between both the primary and intermediate buildings working alongside building level principals, Mrs. Mindi Gates at Eunice Thomas Elementary and Mr. Jeff Swadley at Cassville Intermediate. Wheeler’s primary responsibility will be to support classroom teachers with student behavior and discipline.
“We are excited about the leadership experience Mr. Wheeler will bring to Cassville R-IV,” stated Dr. Merlyn Johnson, Cassville R-IV Superintendent. “He has experience as an instructional leader and has been trained in the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) practices which is a high priority for the assistant principal position. He is going to be a great addition to our school community and leadership team.”
Wheeler joins the district after serving as the elementary principal at Wheaton R-3.
“During my time at Wheaton I've made great relationships and learned a lot from a very dedicated staff and fantastic students,” stated Wheeler. “I am excited for the opportunity to join the Wildcat family, and to work alongside Mr. Swadley and Mrs. Gates. I know I am going to learn from these two great educators and leaders.”
Prior to his time at Wheaton, he taught math and science at Webb City Junior High. He also coached both boys and girls basketball and softball during his time at Webb City.
Wheeler will begin his tenth year in education as a Wildcat. He has earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University and his undergraduate degree from Missouri Southern State University.
He will be replacing Mrs. Lisa Schell who has dedicated her career to educating students at Cassville R-IV. Schell has been with the district for 21 years and served as the assistant principal from 2021-23. She will retire at the conclusion of this school year.
Wheeler and his wife, Maddie, have two children, Charlee and Forest.
