Wildcat Staff Celebrate the 22-23 School Year at Annual CCTA Banquet
Cassville Community Teachers Association (CCTA) banquet was held after wildcat students had been dismissed for the summer on Friday, May 12. The annual celebration took place at the Event Center and gave the district an opportunity to celebrate a successful school year and honor district employees.
Cassville R-IV Retirees
Doug Martin has had 30 years in education, beginning his career in 1993. Most recently, he has served as the Activities Director at Cassville.
Lisa Schell served as the Primary and Intermediate Assistant Principal. She began her teaching career as a classroom teacher in 2000.
Ann Nickle began her teaching career in 1995 as a second grade teacher. She finished her career as a fifth grade teacher at Cassville Intermediate.
Branden Heiden taught history at CHS and served as a professor at Crowder College. He began his career in education in 2001.
Cathly Nunley most recently served as a Title I Interventionist at Cassville Intermediate. Nunley has been a teacher for 31 years, beginning her career in 1992.
Wilma Swofford began her career in education 46 years ago as a classroom teacher in Louisiana. Most recently, she taught fourth grade at Cassville Intermediate. Swofford also served as the principal of the Jenkins school district prior to its closure.
Board Scholarship
On behalf of the Board of Education, Jeremy Marple, Board of Education President, presented Teall Williams and Talana Hinson with the Board Scholarship to continue their education. Williams teaches art and Hinson teachers speech and debate. Both educators work at the high school.
CCTA Scholarship Recipients
CHS Seniors Ella Reuter and Dixon Reid were each awarded a $500 CCTA scholarship.
Young Educator of the Year
Mr. Dylan Klewer was awarded the Young Educator of the Year award. Mr. Klewer teaches Special Education at CHS. He is pictured with CHS Principal, Tyler Willis.
Teacher of the Year
Mrs. Jenn Willis, first grade teacher at Eunice Thomas Elementary, was named Teacher of the Year for Primary and Intermediate. Willis is pictured with Mrs. Megan Cox the 2022 Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Leisa Lasley, Special Education Teacher at Cassville Middle School, was named the Middle School and High School Teacher of the Year. Lasley is pictured with Mrs. Becky Haynes, the 2022 Teacher of the Year.
Classified Staff Member of the Year
Nancy Horner was named the 2023 Classified Staff Member of the Year. Horner is a member of the district's Food Service Department where she works in the high school kitchen. She is pictured with CMS Assistant Principal Mrs. Samantha Cosper.
Quarter Century Club
Dr. Merlyn Johnson recognized Shelley Henderson, Lance Parnell and Tonya Varner for devoting 25 years of their career to the Cassville R-IV School District.
