CHS Alum Jody Cavness to Serve as Assistant Principal at CHS
Jody Cavness will return to his alma mater to become the new assistant principal at Cassville High School. Cavness has completed nine years in education. Most recently, he has served as a principal at neighboring district Wheaton R-III.
“Wheaton will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Cavness. “This school district and community have been so good to my family and I over the last six years.”
After graduating from CHS in 2008, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Missouri Southern State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.
In 2016, he began his tenure at Wheaton as a social studies teacher and coach and was selected as principal at the junior high and high school in 2021. Prior to his time at Wheaton, he was a physical education and health teacher at East Lynne School.
“I am excited to begin a new chapter as a wildcat again,” said Cavness. “I truly appreciate the administration and Board of Education with their faith in me for the opportunity to be a part of this district. I look forward to meeting the staff and students and reuniting with the community I grew up in."
Cavness will be joining the wildcat leadership team in July.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Cavness back to his home district and are eager for him to join our Cassville R-IV team,” stated Dr. Merlyn Johnson, Cassville R-IV Superintendent.
“He brings a tremendous amount of passion for school improvement and believes in working hard to provide exceptional academic and extracurricular opportunities for all students. Relationships with students, families and staff have been an extremely important part of Mr. Cavness' career in education, and we can't wait for him to bring that to our high school family.”
Cavness and his wife, Jordan, have 2 daughters, Jaelyn and Jessa.
